The SIG Sauer P238 Academy Sports & Outdoors version is an excellent entry level SIG P238.

SIG Sauer P238 Academy Sports & Outdoors Version

Academy Sporting Goods is one of the largest sellers of firearms in the United States.  This gives it buying clout with major gun manufacturers.  One example of this is the Beretta ARX-100 which sells for half the price at Academy that is typically does elsewhere.  Another example is the SIG P238.  The Academy version of the P238 sells below the MSRP of the cheapest standard  SIG version, yet it offers features better than the lowest grade SIG P238.

The Academy Sporting Goods version of the SIG P238 is all black with the slide and frame being Nitron coated and the grips being black metal.  Its sights are not only SIGLITE Tritium 3 Dots but they also have green fiber optics around the tritium on the front post for exceptional daytime visibility.  Finally it ships with a 7 round magazine instead of the more typical 6 round magazine.  Even though this is the cheapest version of the P238 one can buy, this gun still retains the low recoil, excellent accuracy, and fast follow-up shot characteristics inherent in the SIG P238 design.
