The Kimber Micro Crimson Carry is a Crimson Trace Laser equipped version of the top pocket pistols in today’s market.

Kimber Micro Crimson Carry with a 7 round magazine

The Kimber Micro is one of best small concealed carry pistols on the market.  It is one of 4 miniaturized 1911 currently on the market.  The first was the Colt Mustang, introduced in 1986.  This was followed by the SIG Sauer P238 in 2009.   SIG was so successful with its P238, in 2014, Kimber a major manufacturer of 1911 style pistols released its version of a miniature 1911, the Kimber Micro.  Seeing the success of SIG, Kimber, and Colt who restarted Mustang production, another miniature 1911 was released in 2018, the Springfield Armory 911.

The Kimber Micro looks like a SIG P238 or Springfield 911 from a distance, but a closer inspection will reveal many subtle differences.  The Micro’s slide is narrower and rounded at the top.  It also has a flared and lowered ejection port.  The beaver tail is longer and more upturned reducing the chance of hand bite when the slide recoils.  The entire pistol is also de-horned and has no sharp edges.  SIG has a similar treatment on their P238 SAS and Legion models, but not on the standard P238.  The Micro’s magazines are slightly taller and the baseplate is more rounded and aggressively angled at the back.  This all results in a pistol that is easier to carry, draw, and fit in the shooter’s hand.

Like the SIG P238, the Kimber is offered in many versions and finishes.  Near the top of the Kimber Micro variant pyramid, is the Micro Crimson Carry.  This version has a two tone finish with a matte black slide and satin silver frame.  It also has tritium 3 dot night sights.  However, what really sets it apart is its Rosewood Crimson Trace Laser Grips.  These grips have a button integrated into the front that ensures a natural grip to fire the gun will activate the laser.  The laser aids aiming, especially in high stress situations.

The Kimber Micro’s are only .380 ACP in caliber, but modern bullet designs make the .380 ACP more effective than it was in the past.  Also, low recoil, from the steel and aluminum construction, coupled with excellent ergonomics and sights ensure that a high percentage of rounds will hit their intended target(s).  Finally The Kimber’s light weigt and small size make it very convenient to carry.  Having a gun with 8 rounds of .380 ACP (7 +1) on one’s person is far better than a 15+ rounds of 9mm sitting in a gun at home that was too heavy and bulky to be convenient carried.
